Brilliant Borders, Birstall!

Just a quick blog to say thanks to the wonderful staff at Borders, Birstall (pictured above) for making me feel so welcome on Saturday. I confess, having not done a signing in a little while, to feeling slightly apprehensive. However, the lovely Micheal (who had come in on his day off, bless him) and his team soon made me feel at home.

I soon got chatting to staff and customers and the charming Rugby League 'Legend', Peter Fox (who was also signing books that afternoon) and the time just flew. Even the photographer from the local press who turned up to take my picture was delightful.

So, many thanks to all concerned for a splendid afternoon. And, if you happen to be heading down the M62 anytime soon and need a break from the motorway traffic, I can whole heartedly recommend a visit: A good stock of Legend Press books, friendly staff and Starbucks' frappuccinos on the second floor. Nirvana! I may be back next weekend myself.

Exactly a month to go till the launch of Silence!

Can you tell I’m excited!?! I have so much to do and am still biting nails about the silliest things, like will any of my family actually bother to come? (Talking about the family I was born into here, not Alys and the boy, who will be there obviously!) EDIT: Looks like I’m going to have to eat my words as several members of my born-into family have already said they’ll come. Wow, I am being taken seriously!

Of course, any Legends in the vicinity are automatically guests of honour TALKING TO YOU, TWINS! And anyone who is passing may be dragged in as well.

Lucy has done an amazing job on the poster/invitation, which is already on my website and will be all over Cardiff by the end of the weekend.

I’m also working on a number of other things – Pop&Crisps of course, several articles about Silence and Pop&Crisps, my podcast Casting Pods (a new show of which has been uploaded tonight), and trying to squeeze in time to work on the sequel to Silence.

Highlight of the week was checking the Waterstone’s website events listings for details of the launch party and seeing myself described as ‘Debut novelist and serial blogger’. Loving it! And I’ve just proved them right by posting this. And the ‘Meet the author’ video link is on my book page on the Waterstone’s site as well. *Swoons at my fame and sparkliness*.

Happy 30th Birthday Craig!

Just wanted to wish our sister's fiance Craig a very happy 30th birthday.

Craig, we know we've been teasing you for a few years now about this day and it's now finally arrived. Which sadly means the teasing, the count down poems in your cards and the jokes about old age will have to stop. Until next year that is.

Oh don't eat too much birthday cake 'cos we're gonna force fed you a can of whoop-ass in the space hopper race. Yes, we have been practising - just 'cos it's your birthday doesn't mean we're going to go easy on you. You want the victory crown, you're gonna have to fight us for it. We're also gonna kick your a**e in air hockey and table tennis on your new games table. You'll probably get revenge in snooker and football. We're c**p at those. But we're still gonna fight dirty and try to win.

All those wicked 30 jokes were really rather naughty, but now the count down has begun - just 10 years left 'til 40!
