With the official launch of the hotly-tipped QUEER FISH IN GOD'S WAITING ROOM by Lee Henshaw 10 days away (2nd February), we've seen the orders come in with increasing regularity and size over last week or so. Of course, can't wait to see it in all the shops, and going through all the tills, but the first real buzz (and nervous) moment for a publisher is seeing it when it first arrives from the printer.
The copies go to our distributor, LBS, and they send numerous large boxes packed full to the office for our review/promotion/author copies etc and for miscellaneous use. Whoever opens the box always has a slightly unsteady hand, and nothing to do with a hangover. (I recently had a dream the night before that copies would come back wrong from the printer...a potential nightmare.) But to date, and hopefully to continue, the copies have always been fine.
It is also very interesting as for all your work and research you never quite know how they are going to look until they arrive. So, here is the moment shortly after the nervous moment a few weeks ago when copies of Queer Fish arrived. Funny to think that these copies will soon be in people's hands being read.
Can't wait for the novel to hit the shelves and if you haven't ordered a copy yet of the fantastic comedy, you'd better do so now:
Tom
