I was please to announce this morning the launch of an ‘independent creative group’, which is to hold its initial meeting tomorrow (Friday 22nd Feb). Further meetings will be held on a monthly basis.
To quote the official release (not often you probably hearing me sounding 'official'):
The group is a reflection of the increasing need to work across creative platforms and also the wide array of exiting start-up enterprises run by dynamic, talented individuals. The initial group will be made up of representatives from publishing, film, theatre, literary magazine and agencies, music, PR and online advertising. Each will have begun their own enterprise and will have their own area of experience, skills and networks to add into the general discussion and planning.
One of the items on the first agenda is to discuss prospective new members and areas of the creative industries to add into the group. Anyone interested in joining should email tomchalmers@legendpress. All enquiries are welcome.
Chalmers commented: “The consumer now has access to countless mediums simultaneously through the online world and rapid advances in technology, and we as a sector now need to cater for this – something publishing is striving towards but still a long way short of. This means across-platform work is more important than ever and, while there can be an element of hit-and-miss at this stage, there are huge opportunities, new forms and ways of communication, out there waiting to be grasped.”
“There is also a wealth of enthusiastic and talented people making great strives, often against tough odds, in their respective sectors and this groups aims to bring many of them together to explore the partnerships, knowledge bases and ideas that can be formed. We want to keep a clear and efficient structure to the group but we hope it is set to develop significantly in scope and use.”
Quite right too - should be a very interesting initiative. Any suggestions welcome as always!
Tom
