Ten days left of our January Sale!

Bubble_bathIt's nearing payday for most of us so why not treat yourself to a late January bargain in our online sale? Just click here and you could snap up a whole new year reading list of nine books, yes NINE!, for just £30, or alternatively get signed first edition copies from all our authors by paying a mere £1 more than the RRP. Just imagine how exciting it will be to get a package of brand shiny new books through the post, all waiting for you to curl up with them on a dark evening with a glass of wine...

Well, we all need something to cheer us up in January don't we? My choice, as you can probably tell by this rather odd photo choice for a blog post about books, is a hot bath with loads of bubbles and a book (oh yes, and that glass of wine!). And you know what else reading in the bath does for you?  It forces you to keep your hands out of the water most of the time which means your fingers don't go all horrible and prune-like. Genius!

Prize winner announced!

Hort_2Congratulations Maridi Taylor, your name was pulled out of our special Legend Press hat to win a set of books after casting your vote in the inaugral cover awards. (If you missed it, see the original post and the results here).

And the winning cover is.... Here or There. I would say well done to you Gudrun but, seeing as you've designed all of them except for Tom's The Remarkable Everyday, really you were in competition against yourself all along. Still I feel that it's no mean feat to have designed such a wonderful and diverse collection of covers and the fact that it was actually a close call as to which gathered the most votes shows that everyone has their own favourite and they're all brilliant in their own way. Maybe you can tap Chalmers for a free set of your own books later on?!

Emma

Ps  -- Maridi if you could email us at info@legendpress.co.uk with your details we'll arrange getting the books sent to you. Thanks everyone for taking part, really interesting to hear your views!!

Calling all book groups

We've been receiving orders for the hotly-tipped Well-Tempered Clavier by William Coles from all over the place and one area I wanted to highlight was the number of requests we've had from books groups. We realise how many groups there are and we are are keen to work with them all over the country and further afield. It's great and refreshing to have a direct route to the public and to hear their views on our books, and we think they are a key aspect of the book world, now and for the future.

Therefore, if you are in a book group please just let us know. Not only are we prepared to offer extra special discounts and deliver out titles direct to you, but we can offer a lot more to make the particular discussion even more memorable - e.g. signed copies, author visits, promotional material, joint-groups, and the list goes on. If you have any requests at all - M&Ms on offer with the green ones removed etc etc - we'll do our best to satisfy them.

So if you're in a book group, get in touch and you could soon have hot-off-the-press Legend Press books winging their way to you with much more besides. Look forward to hearing from you.

'Half a pound of strawberries'

People have been asking us how our stint as market traders went at the Thames festival on Saturday. Well, in a nutshell, it was brilliant. It was good fun to get out from behind our desks for once and meet potential readers, but even more exhilarating than this was the fact that we sold loads of books. We weren't at all sure what to expect, we weren't even sure how many books to take with us, but the speed with which they were snapped up showed us more than ever how effective the direct selling of our books can be. Copies of the whole range, from our first book The Remarkable Everyday to our most recent launch of Here or There, were flying off the table with loads of people scooping up our special 'on-the-day' offer of any five for £20.

It was a great way to reach a whole new audience as many people who bought from us admitted they wouldn't normally go for a browse in a bookshop so it was a nice treat for them to discover new fiction. With Tom and I on hand to describe the books and answer questions, customers got invaluable first hand knowledge of the books and the stories behind them. Once they heard a bit about each title they couldn't wait to pick at least one or two and get reading so when we said that our collection offers 'something for everyone' it seems we weren't exaggerating.  I love this cheesy photo of Tom which I took (luckily he didn't pose lwith that manic smile on his face all day -- if he had I certainly don't think we'd have sold as many books...)
