Last week Gary Davison, author of the brilliant Streakers just out last week was at the Bobby Robson match in Newcastle:
I’ve just got back from the Bobby Robson match. 40 000 screaming geordies, legends of old including the one and only Alan Shearer. England V Germany in a remake of the 1990 world cup semi-final. England were trailing by two goals and struggling, and guess what happens? A well endowed streaker comes onto the pitch and the match turns around, England score two, then Shearer hits the winner. Sound familar? You couldn’t make it up, could you?
The phone has been red hot, everyone asking the same question: did you have anything to do with it?
Me? Get someone to streak across St James’ Park on the same weekend my book Streakers is launched and on the eve of my metro radio appearance? Of course I didn’t, that would be illegal.
Gary
